Savognin (Surses) 1207 m above sea level M. in the Albula Valley
The villagescape is dominated by three stately churches. The well-known painter Giovanni Segantini (in Surses 1886-1894) noticed the unique natural beauty in our valley. Rough mountain ranges, steep gorges, hilly mountain meadows make an impression just by looking at them. An image that stays in your memory and leaves you wanting more.
Savognin (German, obsolete and officially Schweiningen until 1890, Romansh Savognin, in the local dialect Suagnign, Italian, rarely used, Savognino) was a political municipality in the Albula district of the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland until December 31, 2015. On January 1, 2016, Savognin merged with the municipalities of Bivio, Cunter, Marmorera, Mulegns, Riom-Parsonz, Salouf, Sur and Tinizong-Rona to form the new municipality of Surses.
