Was once a branch of the Main. To the east of the oldest Rüsselsheim district of Haßloch, the Horlachegraben still represents the development boundary. To the east there is a closed forest area. The Horlachegraben is ideal for walking, hiking and jogging and combines all the advantages of a recreation area close to nature. ruesselsheim.de/mainvorland-horlache-moenchbruch.html

The location is at Horlache Becken 2. The hiking highlight Sonnenuhr and the Naturfreundehaus Rüsselsheim are nearby.

Well-visited local recreation area for the citizens of Rüsselsheim.
The Main used to run from Raunheim east past Rüsselsheim, bend sharply at Königstädten towards Schönauerhof, past Bauschheim and reach the Rhine near Ginsheim. The Neckar also flowed into the Rhine near Trebur.
The landscape was criss-crossed by oxbow lakes of the Main and Neckar. Since usable arable land and meadows were rare, monks living in Hassloch began the first drainage measures in the Bornbruch near Hassloch in the 13th century. This is how the flood ditch was created, which led from Raunheim past Hassloch, Königstädten, Hof Schönau and Bauschheim to the Rhine.
As the surrounding area was drained, the flood ditch became increasingly silted up over the centuries and was partly plowed up and cultivated by farmers.
