The port of Larrau is clearly worth the detour. The slope is sustained from the Auberge de Logibar. It eases when crossing Larrau and picks up again until the first Erroimendy pass (the wind is very often from the front and the last ramp is quite terrible). There are then 3.5 quiet kilometers in a sublime landscape and three switchbacks in the last kilometer at more than 10%.

The port of Larrau is one of the 5 large ports of the Pyrenees. Not only is it one of the toughest ports (on the French side); It is one of the ports with the greatest scenic beauty, enjoying the authentic wild and rugged Pyrenees.
The two slopes are different in terms of hardness and landscape. You have to try both options and decide which one you like best.
