Port very short. On the west side we find very hard ramps. We also find the monument to Fabio Cassartelli.

Crossing the Pyrenees on the north side from west to east, the Col de Portet d'Aspet is something of the gateway to the Ariège region. The last 4.5 km of the western approach are neat and steep, reminiscent of the passes of the French Basque Country. The Ostanfahrt is quite entertaining and leads through many small villages.

Very nice short pass but with 18% ramps.
To be done on the Aspet side, which is much more demanding.

Done this a few times with primary school kids, it's a bucket list thing. There's also a MTB route up from Lac de St Pé, which is much more interesting.
