The Catholic parish church of St. Apollinaris is a listed church building in Frielingsdorf.

Originally a chapel was built on this site in 1796, which was replaced by a previous church after demolition in 1848. The new local church was built in 1927 and 1928. The master builder was Dominikus Böhm. The building is a one-room church with a compact tower. There are parabolic windows in the side walls. The high altar is from Gottfried Böhm, the ornamental window glazing from Anton Wendling. [1] The church is equipped with a Seifert organ. [2]

St. Apollinaris is worshiped in St. Apollinaris in Lindlar Frielingsdorf. The pilgrimage takes place on July 23. Wikipedia

The church of St. Apollinaris in the Frielingsdorf district of Lindlar was built between 1927 and 1928 according to plans by Dominikus Böhm using older components.

A smaller chapel in the same place already existed in 1797 and was replaced by a church in 1848. After the tower of this church was damaged by lightning strikes in 1897, the roof finally collapsed in 1926, so that a new building was necessary for the community, which had also grown. Dominikus Böhm was commissioned, who created his first church for the Rhineland here.

The massive square west tower still has remains and structural elements of the previous church, which were integrated into the new tower. The building without transepts is covered by a steeply rising roof and ends on the side of the choir in the east with a straight wall surface without an apse. Only a large triangular window breaks through the wall surface here. The side aisle windows also have this triangular shape, which is obviously based on Gothic architecture.

That Böhm was inspired by the Gothic can also be seen in the interior of the church. This is structured by a series of pointed arches placed one behind the other. Pointed-arch wall openings can also be found in the side aisles and under the organ gallery. The raised choir area is brightly lit by a large window. The church windows were created by Anton Wendling.
