The age of the village church Arnsdorf is estimated to be around 630 years. It is located in the middle of the village and consists of a rectangular hall from 1638 and a late Gothic choir with a three-eighth ending, which is supported on the outside by three buttresses. The ceiling of the ship consists of a painted field ceiling created in 1719/1720, which after years of being hidden under plaster has been shining again in restored beauty since 2001. There are simple galleries on the north, west and south side of the ship. In 1934 the crucifix hanging on the south choir wall and built around 1750 was brought to the church. At the same time the church received the altar that can still be seen today. This late-Renaissance altar, made in 1632 with pictures by G. Kleggler, was previously in the Kunigunden Church in Borna. Around the church there used to be the cemetery within the church walls, some of which are still visible today. A few meters next to the church is the bell tower from 1918 with its three cast iron bells tuned to the tones “h”, “gis” and “e”.

This little place is on the way to Radeberg and is well worth a visit.

The Protestant church in Arnsdorf scores with an incredibly beautiful ceiling design.
