The Malefinkbach gained a certain notoriety when, on the evening of March 7, 2020, subsidence damage was discovered on the railway bridge crossing it. The Jülich - Linnich railway line was then closed north of Tetz for over two years. The old bridge had to be demolished and replaced by a new one. The new bridge was opened for operation at the beginning of June 2022.
