The Märzenbecherwald (also called Märchenwald or Moorholz) is a small forest near Hundsdorf, a district of Ettenstatt, in the district of Weissenburg-Gunzenhausen in central Franconia. It is located on an albrand slope of the Franconian Alb and is a designated nature reserve. The place owes its name to the frequent occurrence of the spring flower Märzenbecher.

It is the largest occurrence of spring flower in the district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen. The entire 12.4 hectare area was declared a nature reserve in 1988. It covers a 500 meter long and 200 meter wide sub-area of a deciduous forest at an altitude of 480 meters above sea level. The Märzenbecher grows very well on the boggy ground and covers the brown forest floor with a white carpet throughout the spring.

Unfortunately it is very, very crowded at the weekend. Be sure to avoid lunch / afternoon. Early or evening would be better if you want to avoid the current

Always a great experience. Every blossom a small miracle and this miracle a thousand times in the wild.
