The French Reformed village church dates from the middle of the 13th century.
After the 30 Years' War, many Huguenots from France were settled in Groß-Ziethen, who found refuge in many places in Barnim or the Uckermark as so-called religious refugees. In Groß Ziethen and Klein Ziethen, tobacco cultivation was introduced to the region from the 17th century and large quantities of tobacco were grown by the new colonists. Groß Ziethen has a beautiful and well-preserved village green, as well as a stone church, which is a testament to the stone cutting craft.
