The old mill in Taubach is located 100 meters from the well-known cycle path on the Ilm, which is also used as a footpath and hiking trail. There is a good rest area there that will reopen in May 2023. Three steps further over the bridge is the Taubach oil mill, you can still see the water wheel turning. Nice cookie. benches available.

Taubach (near Weimar) is the oldest documented mill location in Thuringia. The first mill stood here on the Ilm as early as 1120, the current building was changed several times after 1723.

This mill was used to grind meal until 1990.

In 1991 the water wheel was renewed and since then it has also been used to generate electricity.

The mill is in an attractive location on the Ilm nature reserve and is an ideal resting point on the Ilm cycle path.
