A prominent limestone hill, Warton Crag is the highest point in the Arnside and Silverdale AONB at 535 feet (163 m). Its situation is excellent, overlooking Morecambe Bay, South Cumbria's peninsulas and the South Lakeland Fells.

Myriad trails explore the hill, which is rich in wildlife and other curiosities, such as caves, a former quarry and evidence of an Iron Age hillfort. Much of the area is a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to the rare species found here.
