Morecambe Bay is a dynamic, scenic treasure. Beyond the shifting sands and ebbing tides, South Cumbria's peninsulas are backed by the distant South Lakeland Fells.

It is also a hugely important site for over-wintering and passage populations of wading birds. The mussel beds attract oystercatchers, the mud flats draw in shelduck and waders at low tide, whilst the salt marshes are crucial roosting sites in winter.

The bay is famous for its varied fishing industry. Cockles, mussels, shrimp, bass, founders, codling, rays and mullets are all signature catches.

Morecambe Bay is such an impressive coat, with the extensive wraparound views of the coastline and the miles and miles of mudflats with the birdlife really makes it worth a visit.
