In Kladruby horses were bred for the Prague and Wiener Hof.
The foundation stone of today's horse breeding in Kladrub on the Elbe (Kladruby nad Labem) laid with the founding of a stallion depot in 1563 the Emperor Maximilian II.
By Rudolf II, the stud was raised in 1579 to the court stud.
This date is the official date of foundation of National Stud Kladruby nad Labem.
