Hiking Highlight (Segment)
The Stille Klamm is also called "Edmundsklamm". Here you feel like in a small, untouched oasis of nature. Until the end of the trail, the path through the popular gorge is barrier-free. If you want, you can take the most beautiful part of the gorge, which does not lead any way though, on a boat (pay) and continue on the other side.
Entrance to the gorge: approx. 25 kroner
After walking through the village, the hiker will find a fairy-tale world of moss-covered cliffs, crystal-clear water and mysterious silence. 2 stages of the way (Silent Gorge, 960 m and Wild Gorge, 450 m) can be mastered by boat. The ferryman pushes the barge with a pole through up to 150 m high rock formations and makes known with the living and petrified inhabitants of the gullies. The Stille Klamm is known as Edmundsklamm, whose name refers to Prince Edmund Clary-Aldringen, who made the gorge accessible to tourists at his expense by letting hiking trails set up and since 1890 facilitated the boat trip on the dammed Kamnitz.
The access route from the upper edge of the municipality Herrnskretschen (Hřensko) runs first on the left, then on the right bank of the Kamnitzbachs, under rocky overhangs and through three tunnels to a weir, over which the lower dock for barges lies.
After a 960 m long boat trip, the path continues on the left bank of the river to the bridge Mezní můstek, from where it continues into the wild gorge or via a staircase to Stimmersdorf (Mezná). Above the gorge are several rocks with special shapes, eg. B. rock family (Skalní rodina) or guard (Strážce). (Source: herrnskretschen.de/edmundsklamm).
