Best Hiking Routes to Landgrafenschlucht
Tips
  • The "little brother" of the Drachenschlucht is not quite as narrow, but it is no less beautiful. Here you hike through a quiet beech forest and impressive rocks on both sides. I recommend sturdy shoes, but the hiking trail is mostly easy to walk. The gorge is particularly beautiful in spring green or when autumn colors the leaves.

  • The Landgrafenschlucht is a little lovelier than the neighboring Drachenschlucht, but its rock formations and vegetation are no less impressive. A wide, easily walkable path winds its way through, in some places it is secured by wooden planks or steps or small bridges.

Accessible from the end of May until the first frost.

  • The most beautiful is the combination of Drachenschlucht and Landgrafenschlucht.

  • Best combined as a round trip together with the dragon gorge.

  • The Landgrafenschlucht is the "little sister" of the Drachenschlucht and definitely worth seeing. If you combine both ravines in a hike, there's a lot to see.

  • Very nice route even in winter, but hiking boots are mandatory on some places, the trail is very narrow and not fixed.

  • Well developed gorge suitable for anyone who is still good on foot and loves nature.

  • Great tour! We have made a round trip starting at the high sun over the dragon gorge down and over the Landgrafen canyon back up. Also very nice for dogs. Without grid bars.

  • Not quite as spectacular as the Drachenschlucht but still beautiful

  • I recommend descending the Landgrafen canyon and going up the dragon's canyon. The Landgrafenschlucht is quite steep or rough.

  • A beautiful and quiet canyon with quaint old trees. I personally like it a bit better than the Drachenschlucht.
It is a good idea to hike from the Mariental car park through the Landgrafenschlucht gorge to the Hohe Sonne. There you can stop and then run through the dragon gorge back to the starting point.
Maybe in between a detour to the singer meadow and the Wartburg.

  • A great gorge lined with rocks and trees. Wonderful in the morning and pleasantly cool in the summer. Only allowed on foot. There are passages with narrow stairs, walkways and paths. They are in very good condition.

  • As a circular route, the Landgrafenschlucht can be very well connected with the Drachenschlucht.

  • The "little sister" of the Drachenschlucht, but no less beautiful.

From the Herzogseiche - near the upper end of the Landgrafenschlucht (keep left) - the Dronheckenweg begins, which leads above the gorge back into the Mariental - is a beautiful circular hike.

  • Nice tour in a wide cool valley, along a stream on a pleasant forest path.

  • Unfortunately, another hiking trail that is paved with highlights ;-(
So my already written in the past in copied form:
The Landgrafenschlucht can be hiked through the gorge from the Hohe Sonne or the Grosser Drachenstein. Some places are narrow and quite muddy. You should therefore wear sturdy shoes and good clothing. The gorge itself offers a beautiful panorama of rock and greenery. You should just go through it.
I recommend the circular hike at the Hohe Sonne car park (free of charge) through the Langgrafen Gorge down and up the Drachenschlucht, then a leisurely finish at the Hohe Sonne Grill.
