The area on the western edge of the Duisburg Baerl district is a heath forest. It includes about 3.2 km² of forest and the 0.5 km ² Lohheider lake, which was created by the degradation of gravel and sand. In the south, already on Moerser city, lies the Waldsee, another, smaller, renatured gravel pit. Here, the Baerler Busch adjoins the Halde Rheinpreußen.

In good weather, you can bath quite well. In addition, there are very nice single-trains around the lake. It's really fun to drive through the forest!

Along the lake shore, there are a few nice trails and trails that are often overgrown especially in the summer months, but still fun. Here you have to take special consideration for walks with and without a dog, especially in fine weather.
