Bismarck tower on the ruins of a windmill
The Bismarck Tower in Frankfurt-Lichtenberg, like the Bismarck Tower in Tecklenburg / North Rhine-Westphalia, was built on the ruins of an old windmill. After the mill was built in 1694, the windmill burned down a total of four times by 1861. On August 28th, 1861 a new windmill was built on the Mühlenberg (destroyed by a storm in 1920).
