The Egbert mine was a hard coal mine near Herbede. It was the last small mine in the Ruhr area. From 1962 to 1976, hard coal was mined at a depth of 135 meters by around six miners. Up to two tons of coal were mined and transported away per man per working day. This is an amount per miner that is not significantly exceeded even in modern mines. The mine water flowed through a tunnel into the nearby Ruhr, which meant that there was no need for complex dewatering in the ton-long conveyor shaft. When the mine stopped mining on June 22, 1976 after 14 years of operation, coal mining in the Ennepe-Ruhr district ended. Small mines have existed in the Herbede area since the 18th century and were of great economic importance for the surrounding area. The Egbert small mine, which has been completely preserved in the day-use facilities, was extensively restored as an example of this tradition (Muttental mining trail).

A typical small creek, where in the post-war period with only 6 miners from low depth small amounts of coal are mined. The conveyor framework is reconstructed
