Wonderful chapel with a beautiful view, a thank you to the people of the association who take care of the chapel and look after the environment.

The chapel is locked and can only be viewed from the outside.

This chapel, located on the oldest route to Landau, is also called the Loreto Chapel, Roman Chapel or Blacksmith's Chapel.

The year 1508 on the lintel is the oldest evidence of a chapel in Herxheim. In gratitude for his recovery from a serious illness in Loreto, the blacksmith Hans Georg Römer had the chapel restored in 1661. The Herxheimers successfully opposed an ordered demolition of the chapel in 1777.

      Furnishing:

Late Gothic frescoes from the 16th century: Christ as World Redeemer, together with the apostles; The crucifixion scene, the depiction of the founder family Römer and the pastor Trittheim originate from the 17th century. Baroque altar with statue of the Madonna and putti (partly new acquisitions after robbery).

The chapel is a compact building with a hipped roof, bell turrets and a wooden canopy in the late Gothic core.

Place of Faith, Station of Life .........

        could use a restoration
