The Galerie Holländer windmill in Eystrup from 1861 can already be seen from afar and was built on a high sand dune.

There is said to have been a windmill in Eystrup by around 1600. Too much forest around the post mill led to a relocation to the freer Hohenholz. Operated by three generations of the Gohde family (around 1725 to 1810), it was sold. Jürgen-Friedrich Schneermann had a new Erdholländer mill built after 1846, which burned down in 1861.

After an existing dutch mill here was destroyed by a lightning strike in 1861, the new windmill was built at the same location as the "Margarethe" gallery dutch windmill.
In order to be able to grind even when there was no wind, a steam engine was installed in the new boiler house in the 1980s.
In 1919 it was replaced by an electric motor, which ran without major problems until the 1960s.
