The monastery was founded in the 12th century as a Benedictine monastery and dissolved in 1806. All buildings of the monastery are now listed as historical monuments. Directly at the monastery is the karst spring of the Urspring, a source river of the blue. Unfortunately there is no beer garden or restaurant here. The buildings are sometimes used as a boarding school.
