Top cycling routes to Emscher Pumping Station Gelsenkirchen

Tips

  • Thanks to the Emscher conversion, the wastewater will soon finally be taking new paths and we will have a clean river. The centerpiece is the 51 km long sewer from Dortmund to Dinslaken. The new pumping station in Gelsenkirchen is one of three mega-lifting systems and distributes the wastewater to the Bottrop and Dinslaken sewage treatment plants. Awesome performance: eleven pumps convey around 12,800 liters per second 26 meters high.

  • Very interesting if you know what it is for. You can hear the water, but unfortunately you can't see much except a few fireboards
