Already in its oldest historical appreciation the castle ruin of Nassenfels is called as one of the most impressive and most fortified Talburgen of Bavaria. This impression goes back to the preserved four towers, so the towering donjon and the three wall towers with the names witch or dovecote tower, White Tower and Red Tower.

Nassenfels was one of the most impressive and well-fortified valley castles in Bavaria. It was built in the 12th century on a Jurassic coral reef washed free by the primeval Danube. Originally, the complex was protected by a 12 meter wide moat and of the many towers, the witch or dove tower, the white tower and the red tower are still preserved today.
