The Grosse Koser springs south of Hohenberg and the Kleine Koser below the Marktleugaster hamlet Ösel. In the Kupferberger hamlet Old Schmölz, the two streams to Koserbach unite. Up to this junction, the Grossen Koser has a length of 9.9 km and the Kleine Koser a length of 3.5 km. From there, the Koser flows on a length of 4.5 km to Wirsberg, where it flows into the Schorgast.
