A square brick building stands on a hill supported by large field stones: the Rantzau chapel. The governor of the Danish king Heinrich Rantzau, who resided in Segeberg from 1555 to 1598, had a pyramid made of Segeberg limestone built on the site in 1588 when his employer died in 1588, to the glory of the Danish king Friedrich II. Unfortunately, this building material was not very weatherproof, so that in 1770 a descendant of Heinrich Rantzau had this brick building built.
