The castle was first mentioned in the 14th century, but its current appearance is that of an 18th-century reconstruction by Maximilien-Henri de Horion, who transformed it from a fortress into a pleasure palace, with interiors decorated by Paul-Joseph Delcloche. The castle and its park were acquired by the University of Liège in 1963.

Hiking

Located in an area of 50 hectares, on a rocky promontory, the château de Colonster overlooks the Ourthe valley. This castle, whose history dates back to the 9th century, is an island in the middle of a nature reserve.
Today the Château de Colonster serves as a reception area for the university, and all kinds of symposiums are held there.
