The old sandstone bridge is a historical monument from the time of Margrave Alexander (1769-1791) and was built in 1786 under the direction of court architect Johann Gottlieb Riedel. The bridge over the Red Main was part of the old avenue that led from St. Georgen to the Hermitage. Before this structure was built, a wooden bridge led over the Main. From August 2014 to July 2015, the bridge was extensively renovated. The canoeing department of the Bayreuth 1921 swimming club trains in the Red Main under the bridge.
