The Schneeberg is located in the Aachen hill country between the hamlets of Lemiers, Vaals and Seffent. The Schneeberg may not be worth the effort from a sporting point of view, and it probably wouldn't be described in any other area, but in the Aachen hill country and Zuid-Limburg this mountain is just big enough to deserve a description of its own. One of the explanations for the name is provided by the geological structure of the Schneeberg, which consists predominantly of Upper Cretaceous chalk, limestone and marl stones, which are typical for the area between Aachen and Maastricht (see Mergelen Heuvelland).
At Schneeberg you can still find remains of the Aachen Landgraben, part of the West Wall, a defensive line from the Second World War. As you drive up, you can see the concrete remains of this defensive structure over a length of 450 meters on the left. Other relics of the war can be found in many places here if you look for them.
