In 1893, master carpenter Matthias Jeck built a large crucifix on the Schinnkopf (428 m) out of gratitude for his regained health. There is now a successor cross there. Since the Schinnkopf is now forested, the summit cross can no longer be seen from afar.

There used to be a gallows here, visible from afar as a warning to the pioneers. A former quarry is located below the cross.

The name Schinnkopf can be derived from "flay" for hard work (see quarry), also execute (see gallows) or bury for dead cattle.
