It flows north through the Kothener Busch forest area, receives a tributary from the Lichtenplatzer Bach and the Vöpelssiefen and flows in two branches, partly renatured above ground, partly piped to the residential development of the Kothen residential area in the valley of the Wuppertal.The Kothener Bach piped under the Elberfeld – Dortmund railway line and the 7 federal highway, and after approx. 2.1 kilometers it flows out at 152 meters above sea level.
