The mill from 1847 is now a mill museum where daily tours are offered and you can learn a lot of interesting things about the history of the mill. As the famous painter and miller's son Rembrandt van Rijn had a special connection to the village of Sloten, one of the attics in the old part of the mill was made into a Rembrandt attic with figures from Rembrandt's life and paintings.

The Molen van Sloten is a polder mill in the village of Sloten near Amsterdam (Akersluis 10). It is a thatched, octagonal post mill made of oak on a stone base. The windmill is located on the Ringvaart of the Haarlemmermeerpolder and, together with the Akergemaal, drains the western garden cities.

The Molen van Sloten was built in 1991 using an 1847 ship's hull from the Watergraafsmeer, which was placed on a new brick base. The cap and sails were also made new.

The Molen van Sloten is one of the few in the Netherlands that is open to the public (almost) every day. The mill also has an elevator and is used as a wedding location for the Nieuw-West district. In the mill there is a lot to see about mill technology and the history of Sloten and Oud Osdorp, but also a Rembrandt presentation in the attic with wax figures of Rembrandt and some of his characters.

In April 2005, the complex was expanded with a cooperage museum, where there is a lot to see about the old craft of cooperage. The Cooper Museum was closed and cleared in 2020. In April 2018, the De 7 Deugden brewery opened next to the mill.

Because the mill is open (almost) every day all year round and is close to Schiphol Airport, it is a popular destination for many foreign tourists who want to visit a working mill near Amsterdam. The mill is a ten-minute walk from the terminus of tram line 2 in Nieuw Sloten. Bus line 195 (Connexxion) stops directly at the mill.
