It is not a place of pilgrimage, this grave, rather a kind of insider tip for local hikers, who are somewhat familiar with the history of their inner homeland, and may have had the legend of Michael Jäkle and his grave told of old mountain fields. It must have been sometime in the 17th century, when Jäkle-Michael, presumably a forest worker, blessed the temporal.
No-one can say who and what exactly he was in his lifetime, but the only certainty is this: even as a dead man he must have been a kind of joker, because when he wanted to bury him in the Bergfelder cemetery, he does not have it Well done - whatever that means. In any case, it was clear that Jäkle did not want to be buried in the cemetery but in his beloved forest. Therefore, the assumption that it was a forest worker.
Not an easy task
The mortal remains of Michael Jäkle were therefore placed on a cart and transported with horses in the forest. But even on this journey the Jäkle was haunting vigorously, for whenever it had gone uphill the legend said that the brakes had picked up and the poor horses could barely have breathe it until they had brought their cargo up the mountain. But if it had gone downhill, the brakes would have released, and the horses could hardly have galloped it, so much did the car with the dead joker pushed on it.
When finally the burial place was found in the middle of the forest and a grave was dug, the coffin with Michael Jäkle was left in the ground, whereby the trees had bowed and lowered their tops. Since then, the Jäkle has its peace, and forest workers - they used to pull their hats when they passed by his grave - cultivate to the present day, the grave site of Michael Jäkle.
