Dohna Castle, also called Donin, on the way to Bohemia was the ancestral seat of the Burgraves of Dohna. Only a small part of the wall remains of the old, once stately double castle. The remains of the old spur castle are located on the Schlossberg.

From 1156 onwards, the castle became the centre of the imperial burgraves of Dohna, whose task was to monitor an old trade route from Saxony to Bohemia, to keep the conquered Sorbs in hereditary servitude and to promote their Christianisation through emissaries of the Catholic Church.
Today, you can enter the castle from the outside at your own risk, as it is private property.
From the castle square you have a beautiful view of the market and the church.
From the rear of the castle you can reach a beautiful meadow, where you also have a very beautiful view of the valley.

The area around the Schlossberg was already a settlement area for West Slavic tribes in the early Middle Ages. The name of the associated settlement was Donin. The originally Slavic castle is said to have received its name from her. Once upon a time there was a very large castle here. The buildings on the Schlossberg, the round tower from 1830 and the former HO Gaststätte Burgschänke, have been expanded into a meeting place by the Christian free church Eckstein community since 2005.
