Tips

  • Patrick

No matter whether summer or winter, the Mummelsee is always worthwhile. In winter you can also run on ice. Don't forget: take some ham and freshly baked bread from the bakery in the parking lot (also on Sundays).

The bakery at the parking lot is very good. Definitely take a bread and enjoy later or on the tour.
However, the place is a "tourist trap". Too many people. Best avoided over the weekend and during the week (if the weather is not so good). Then you and your family have more of it.

After days of loneliness, there is tremendous commotion here. But then there is also a sausage and a small supermarket to replenish the supplies.

A good place to rest when not a busload of tourists has arrived.

A very nice, small lake - but unfortunately very crowded. Along the lake there is an art trail.

Smaller than expected, but beautiful. Local art is distributed around the lake. However, the parking is the same size as the lake. Not for hermits.

The warm bread with lard is a real highlight.
In the season it is very crowded especially on weekends.

Small mountain lake with a walk around it.
In the summer, a good cooling - but the tourism companies have noticed and always throw a busload of people from.
There is also a "Einkehr", if you can call a medium-sized hotel like this 😉

In winter, when the lake is frozen, you can go directly to the mermaid. On Sunday, unfortunately, always quite a lot of operation, but it runs on the trails again.

An old legend tells that mermaids and dwarfs as well as a king used to live in Lake Mummelsee. On full moon nights the mermaids are said to have come to the Deckerhof in Seebach to do handicrafts, sing and tell poems with the residents.
Even today, the mermaids come to visit village evenings. Of course only when accompanied by her strict father, the Mummelsee king.

The destination of the northern Black Forest. That's why there's always a lot going on here.

A very beautiful lake, but you have to expect a lot of people at peak times. Large coaches regularly stop here and throw out a whole load of tourists.

Not recommended on Sundays, sheet metal avalanches, crowds.
Otherwise a nice place, especially if a man / woman has hiked there.

A really great lake below the Hornisgrinde. You can walk around the lake on a beautiful hiking trail. And discover some highlights. Like the mermaid here.

On some days just too many people. But in such a place also understandable.

Although it is busy on the Mummelsee, a short circuit is worthwhile anyway.

From the Hornisgrinde you have a clear view with a wonderful view of neighboring France and the surrounding Black Forest.
A new hospitality is now completed.
