The chapel was probably the castle chapel of the nearby castle. Today only the ruins are left of both of them. “Sankt Jakob”, consecrated to the saint of pilgrims, was of course also a business model here. By visiting the chapel on certain days, you could achieve indulgences for up to 2 years and 40 days, i.e. forgiveness of sins. Of course, it was not for nothing, but with corresponding donations. No wonder that Luther was really fed up with this indulgence trade. Ruins of the Sankt Jakobs Kapel. "Jakob" indicates that this chapel was located on Plilgerweg, the old monastery route, before. Today a nice place for a break or a stop on the pilgrimage, as the ruins are a few meters from the road and therefore undisturbed. Unfortunately no wind protection.
