The menu is a joke. The location is beautiful on the edge of the forest, high above Gelnhausen, unfortunately without views over the city. In the summer months you can sit in the tree-shaded garden and chill out. Those who do not mind the self-service and the bargain will be able to spend pleasant hours here.

Hiking

The log cabin has stood on the edge of the Gelnhausen city forest since 1902. It is a popular excursion destination and meeting point for runners, walkers and hikers, as well as a stopover at the “forest parts” of the Gelnhausen clubs. Some decisions of local politics were also made here. The ancient sweet chestnut in front of the log cabin could tell many anecdotes.

When the rifle club set up a shooting range here at the beginning of the 20th century, there was also a provisional bar for the club, built and operated by the shoemaker Wilhelm Georges.
