The lakes around Gottesgab are a dream, in the sun they glitter unbelievably, the small fishing sheds are the perfect photo motifs and there are also many water birds.

Administratively, Gottesgab is a hamlet (= settlement with more than two and less than ten residential buildings), which belongs since 1972 to the municipality Ählfeld. Aesthetically, the place looks almost like a small island in the Wadden Sea due to the surrounding pond chain. Where the unusual name comes from, could not be clarified - the same applies to the question of whether there is a relationship with the Czech village Godgab (Boží Dar).

The hamlet is surrounded by the Gottesgabweihern, which is fed by the Wintersbachgraben, which is a right tributary of the Aisch.
