The four-arch railway bridge, which was put into operation in 1871, was blown up on April 4, 1945 by a command of the German Wehrmacht on the orders of the high command to stop the advancing American troops and to disrupt future rail traffic for as long as possible. American pioneers built a makeshift bridge. Already at the end of May 1945 it was passable from time to time. Regular train service again from 10 Aug 1945.
