The Plato family cemetery is beautifully situated on a wooded sand dune in the Jeetzel lowlands. Plato (also Plote or Plate) is the name of an old Hanoverian noble family that comes from the Lüneburg Uradel of the Wendland. The Vorwerk Plate (on the Jeetzel), which belongs to the upper Grabau estate (today Grabow), is assumed to be the ancestral home of the Plato family.
It used to be the castle of the Plato family, of which the wall can still be seen today.
The gravestones bear witness to the family, and the grave with the violin cat in particular sparked my interest.
