The Buchschlag villa colony is part of the garden city movement and was founded at the beginning of the 20th century. The residential colony goes back to the plans of the businessman and social reformer Jakob Latscha, who wanted to build a residential colony in the countryside from around 1900, which should also allow less wealthy city dwellers such as artisans or civil servants to live in nature. The Buchschlag villa colony in the town of the same name, a district of Dreieich in the Offenbach district of southern Hesse, was built in the 1900s and 1910s. The villa colony as a whole is a protected cultural monument for “historical and artistic reasons”.
