In the Götzenbüschen near Oelsa, two geologically significant and in their combination rare natural phenomena occur:
-Tropical red loams, which were formed by weathering of the gray gneiss and have a high content of clay (kaolinite and illite) and iron (hematite).
-Clays and sandstones that have emerged from deposits of the Cretaceous Sea, contain fossils from this period and have preserved the previously formed tropical red loams from erosion.
Occurrence only known once in the Andes/ America! Due to its rarity and scientific importance, this area requires strict protection.
CLIMBING PROHIBITED! Also for small children!!!

The Götzenbusch is part of the "Central Saxony" geopark. As a geological monument, it is a large group of chalk sandstone cliffs and is not only of interest to geologists.
