In the wilds of Rannoch Moor, the straightforward hikes up Beinn na Lap allow you to bag a Munro without too much effort. This rolling dome of a mountain makes for a wondrous adventure, even for beginners, as there are no roads to it. Before you raise an eyebrow at the idea of a major walk-in, don’t. There’s a conveniently-placed train station.
Alight at Corrour station, a phenomenally lonely outpost with a seasonal restaurant and lodgings. You can also camp or stay at the youth hostel on the shore of Loch Ossian and admire its green energy initiatives and exceptional location.
Hiking Beinn na Lap is an uncomplicated hike up featureless, grassy slopes and, starting from the station at around 1,300 feet (400 m), the ascent to 3,068 feet (935 m) doesn’t ask too much. The summit views are glorious, with seemingly infinite wilderness in every direction.
Add nearby mountains in for a longer walk, with plenty of sprawling circular routes.

Beinn na Lap is one of the smallest and easiest Munro mountains to climb at 3,068 feet (935 m). It's a very long way from the nearest public road, so we got the train in to Corrour from Roy Bridge station near Fort William. We stayed at the Loch Ossian youth hostel which is perfectly placed at the foot of the mountain.
