It owes its name to its appearance, which - if you approach the stone from the southwest - is reminiscent of a lying elephant.
The elephant stone is about 2.6 meters wide and 2.5 m high granite boulder from Småland (historical province in Sweden). Its total volume is estimated at around 12.4 m³. Typical of Småland granite are its blue quartz, which can also be found on the elephant stone.
