The NSG Baulofsbruch is located north of Ratingen between the Essen-Düsseldorf railway line in the east and the L 139 "Mühlheimer Straße" in the west. It is bordered to the north by the K31 "Zum Schwarzebruch" and to the south by the site of the Ratingen natural stage. It is a forest complex characterized by predominantly old beech and oak forests on a pseudo-Google site. In the wet depressions on the north and south edge of the area, alder and alder swamp or alder quel forests are embedded in the forest. The very swelly and swampy alder swamp forest in the southern part of the area is remarkable with hardly deepened sections of flowing water and large swamps, locally with giant horsetail stocks. Japanese balsam and giant hogweed, which penetrate the stands, are problematic. In addition, sycamore, alder, pine and spruce forests stagnate in the area. The spring brook system of the Fahrenkothener Bach with large giant horsetail stocks should be emphasized. Furthermore, on the northern edge of the NSG, very old European elm trees are stuck in a damp mixed oak forest. Regionally important due to the relatively large alder damp forests, the spring stream system and the surrounding beech and oak forests in the strong tree to old wood age. Stepping stone biotope between Rheinaue and Bergisches Land. Preservation, maintenance and development of a forest complex that is still close to nature in parts by leaving succession in the quarry and swamp forest areas and near-natural forest management in the old beech and oak forests, in particular preservation of old and dead wood and preservation of the old white elm. Protection of giant horsetail stocks before driving. Control and, if necessary, repressing the neophyte population.
