The Château de Chambord is one of the jewels of the Centre-Val de Loire region. Built in 1519 during the reign of François I, the castle is the largest of the Loire castles.

A particularity, its architecture clearly inspired by the Gothic style also responds to a medieval model of fortified castles. Its construction remains spectacular: the castle has 156 meters of facade, 44 meter high dungeons, 426 rooms, 77 staircases, 282 chimneys and 800 sculpted capitals. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981 and recorded on the list of historic monuments since 1841.

Visit in low season, otherwise overcrowded. A walk in this park is worth it.

Arriving at the castle you have already made a good third and certainly need a break. We recommend to visit one of the most beautiful castles of the Loire.

The true charm of "Chambord" is the imposing exterior. It is not even dependent on the opening hours of the visit. Since there is no barrier in the way, the castle and its imposing park can be viewed from outside at any time (even at night). We therefore recommend a visit one hour after the visit (ie from 19:15 clock). After all, there is nothing better than to stroll through the huge castle park in the evening in good weather and enjoy a picnic next to the beautifully lit castle at sunset. A really great experience!

Our tip: Definitely take a picnic break, no matter what time of day!
