When in 1629, after the conquest of Den Bosch (by Frederik Hendrik of the States of Holland from the Spanish rulers), the Catholic faith came under pressure and was eventually completely exiled in 1649, Catholics often had to move to secret churches. Until 1682 this border church was used.
