      East of the town of Annaberg-Buchholz in the Upper Ore Mountains lies the 832-meter-high Pöhlberg. It offers not only geological features but also cultural ones.

      On the eastern side of the mountain slope is the oldest mining area in the Annaberg region. The southeastern side is characterized by an extensive landscape of rocky ridges. This area provides habitat for over 40 species of trees and over 25 different bird species.

      On the mountain, there is a restaurant with a hotel and a 35-meter-high observation tower. In good weather, one has a magnificent view from here into the valley and in all directions.
