Rittershain Castle was built in 1843 by Baron Hermann von Biedenfeld (1812-1891), colonel and adjutant of the wing of the last Elector of Hesse (taken from: Curt Freiherr von Biedenfeld, Rittergut Liebenz, American Diary, Leipzig, 1912).
