Easy-to-drive paths through the fruit growing area
April 7, 2020
Drive on asphalt farm roads through kilometer-long orchards. Access at the exit of Stade, Altländer junction with L 111. Be careful when crossing Dollerner Straße. Then continue on the farm road in the direction of Horneburg. Again and again a look at the Geesthang. Historically, this lowland is the bottom of the Elbe! This had not yet been dredged and was spread over a very wide bed at high tide. The bank at high tide was at the foot of the Geest slope. With the dike and drainage, fertile land for fruit growing was created here. With the seasons the development of the fruit trees can be followed from the bud to the blossom to the harvest. If you are lucky, you will also discover roe deer, herons, storks or swans.
