Of the once heavily fortified castle, which was built in the 16th century from large-format brick, only the round of guns and a vaulted entrance are preserved. The rulers thus reacted to new artillery and siege techniques. In Zossen, one of the first Brandenburg fortress buildings was probably built soon after 1490. At that time, the Brandenburg elector Johann Cicero took over Zossen. Today only one bastion points to the former fortress Zossen. This impresses with its thick walls, which are still five meters high.

Inside you can see embrasures and small holes in the masonry, in which the wooden beam ceiling was once retracted. In addition to the gatehouse, the bastion ruin is now a striking landmark of the city of Zossen.
